Our client in the insurance space is looking for a strong statutory accountant with experience in annuities to join their team and be the conduit between the parent company and the $6B annuity business. This position is fully remote and averages around 37.5 hours a week. 



 



GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as the primary liaison between the Company and its reinsurance partners.

  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of all reinsurance agreements, including treaty structures and their financial implications.

  • Assist with the accounting, reconciliation, and reporting of reinsurance activity.

  • Support the preparation of reinsurance-related disclosures in accordance with statutory reporting requirements.

  • Monitor reinsurance settlements to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

  • Prepare and assist in completing statutory financial statements (“blanks”) in compliance with NAIC guidelines.

  • Contribute to quarterly and annual statutory filings.

  • Provide accounting and reporting support under both statutory accounting principles (SAP) and U.S. GAAP.

  • Help ensure compliance with state insurance regulatory requirements.

  • Assist with internal and external audits related to statutory reporting.

  • Oversee the Company’s investment manager to ensure adherence to established guidelines and regulatory standards.

  • Support statutory and U.S. GAAP accounting and reporting for investments across multiple asset classes (e.g., fixed income, equities, structured products, and alternative investments).

  • Prepare investment-related schedules and disclosures for statutory reporting.

  • Reconcile investment transactions and coordinate with custodians and external managers.

  • Assist with investment valuation reviews and impairment analyses.





EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:




  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Prior experience with statutory accounting is required.

  • Strong knowledge of statutory accounting principles (SAP) and U.S. GAAP.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

  • Strong organizational, time management, communication, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
